On this exclusive morning food tour, you will experience Lisbon flavors and insights into Portuguese history.

Your local expert guide will take you off the beaten path to beloved family-owned eateries where you will challenge your taste buds with mouth-watering tastings especially chosen for you. As you walk and taste, you will hear about local history and culture, and of course about the ingredients that make the Portuguese gastronomy so special.

Your day will start with a tasting in a traditional Quiosque (street café) located in a beautiful plaza near the Tejo river. There, you will choose amongst the various types of Portuguese coffee and sample either pastries: "pastel de nata" and "queijada de Sintra".

Afterward, you will walk to the traditional Mercado da Ribeira where you will browse the colorful stalls filled with fresh produce such as fruits, vegetables, meats, and fish, including the famous “bacalhau" (salted cod). Your guide will tell you about the lives and stories of Portuguese fishermen and the different species caught along the Atlantic coast.

You will continue to the São Bento neighborhood located on a hill where you will taste mouth-watering cheeses/charcuterie.

Last but not least, you will stop in the Madragoa neighborhood to try the exquisite Portuguese “arroz de marisco” (seafood rice) served with a delicious glass of Alentejo wine.
